2nd - 4th July 2010. The Hedingham Singers made their fourth visit to Choisy au Bac,
twinned town to Sible Hedingham. This was another extremely successful trip and the
welcome and hospitality extended to the choir was genuinely heart warming.
The singers performed an evening concert at the beautiful Eglise de la Sainte Trinité
and received rapturous applause and a standing ovation. The evening marked a poignant
moment for the choir as this was their last performance under the direction of Musical
Director, Priscilla Holland Smith and accompanist, Brian Atkinson who both retired
in the Summer. They will be greatly missed by everyone and this was evident by the
passion and emotion with which everyone sang.
On Sunday the choir recited Haydn’s Mass, Kleine Orgelmeisse at the morning service
before embarking on the return journey home. The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all
and will be fondly remembered as our ultimate performance with Priscilla and Brian.
We all wish them a very happy retirement.
The Hedingham Singers presented a water-colour of a local scene to Olivier Dhoury,
a member of the twinning association who helped arrange the visit. Olivier is pictured
with Rosemary Southgate, Roger Atkins and Priscilla Holland-Smith.
The Hedingham Singers are delighted by the generous applause from the audience after
their evening concert. The concert included songs from the shows, a duet between
Priscilla Holland-Smith and Paul Burt, and solos by Becky Gagen, Paul Burt.
